Late last week, San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler announced that he will now protest the National Anthem of the United States of America following the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas which left 19 students and 2 teachers dead.

Kapler said he would not be coming out for the national anthem until he felt better about the direction of the country.

Hall of Fame manager for the Chicago White Sox Tony La Russa responded to Gapler’s protest and said that voicing objections at a time for honoring the flag and anthem was “not appropriate.”

“I think he’s exactly right to be, which a lot of us who isn’t concerned about what’s happening in our country. In every direction you go there’s a lot of concern. He’s right there. Where I disagree is that the flag and the anthem are not appropriate places to try to voice your objections,” La Russa told the press on May 28th.

He continued, “I think you go directly to what the cause that really bothers you about the direction of the country. Same as it was, you know, with earlier. If you talk to any serviceman, they put their life on the line. When they’re out around, they are — some of their courage comes from what the flag means to them and when they hear the anthem.”

“So to me it isn’t the flag and the anthem that you want to point out and say I’m not gonna draw attention by not — I think it’s a mistake. I think Gabe, it makes more sense to figure out which those issues and speak about the ones he doesn’t like and what he’ll do about it.”

“But I’ll say it. I mean I have great respect for him personally. I like him. And I think he’s right,” La Russa declared. “But it’s not the flag and it’s not the anthem.”

After discussing the Dream Team and their gold medal victory, La Russa said, “I thought, man, that’s what the anthem is, man. That’s what the flag is. It’s all that’s right in this country. And you’re right to dislike or protest whatever you want to. But it ain’t the flag and anthem. That’s my answer.”

“I agree with him that there’s a lot wrong,” he reiterated. “But I would never not stand up for the anthem or salute the flag.”

He concluded, “You need to understand, maybe just because I’m older and I’ve been around  veterans more than the average person just for a bunch of reasons, you need to understand what the veterans think when they hear the anthem or see the flag. And the cost they paid and their families paid,” La Russa explained. “And if you truly understand that, I think it’s impossible not to salute the flag and listen to the anthem.”

Kapler did attend the playing of the national anthem on Memorial Day stating that he didn’t want his protest to overshadow the day that we remember our heroes in the armed forces.

“Today, I’ll be standing for the anthem,” Kapler wrote. “While I believe strongly in the right to protest and the importance of doing so, I also believe strongly in honoring and mourning our country’s servicemen and women who fought and died for that right. Those who serve in our military, and especially those who have paid the ultimate price for our rights and freedoms, deserve that acknowledgment and respect, and I am honored to stand on the line today to show mine.”

The Blaze’s Jason Whitlock on Tuesday talked about how San Francisco, California has become the breeding ground for far-left progressives politics to bleed its way into national sports.

“San Francisco is the headquarters of smash and grabs, San Francisco is the headquarters of homelessness, San Francisco is the headquarters of LGBTQ issues, San Francisco is Nancy Pelosi’s headquarters,” Whitlock explained on an episode of his YouTube show “Fearless”.

“Covid, mask mandates, Steve Kerr with the Golden State Warriors (who play in San Francisco) who is another Anti-American nut job right there in the Bay Area. By the time you combine Colin Kapernick, Kapler, and Kerr it’s not a coincidence, it’s all happening right here in San Francisco” Whitlock Explained.

“San Francisco is an enemy of the United States of America, we have to acknowledge that. All the social media apps that are based in Northern California, they are all anti-American.”
