Udoka was suspended by the Boston Celtics for the entire 2022-23 season on September 22nd. The team announced, “The Boston Celtics announced today that the team has suspended Head Coach Ime Udoka for the 2022-2023 season for violations of team policies.”

“A decision about his future with the Celtics beyond this season will be made at a later date. The suspension takes effect immediately.”

An initial report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski indicated the suspension was due to a “consensual relationship with a female staff member.”

However, a separate report in The Athletic and reported on by CBS Boston’s Anne Meiler claims the woman was initially reported as being in the consensual relationship “recently accused him of making unwanted comments towards her.”

Former NBA Champion Matt Barnes indicated the whole situation is “messy. It’s 100 times uglier than any of us thought.”

He would also add, “the s**t is deep.”

O’Neal made his confession on The Big Podcast when his co-host Nischelle Turner brought up Udoka’s suspension as well as Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine’s admission to cheating albeit not in a physical relationship.

“I am going to step down from this conversation. Let me tell you why. I was a serial cheater. It would be crazy and blasphemous for me to get up here and say boom boom bam. I can’t do that. I know these guys personally. I know they’re going through a lot because I went through a lot. I just wish certain parties were involved. I’ve known Nia Long for a long time. I like her. I know Adam for a long time and they’re going through a lot of family stuff.”

O’Neal then asserted, “I’m never the guy that’s going to get up here because of my platform and fake it. I did it. You know, I was the best at it. I’m not proud of it. I lost my family doing it. I lost a valuable, important years of my children from doing it.”

“So I refuse to get up here, ‘You shouldn’t have did this. You shouldn’t have did that.’ I’m not that guy. I’m real with the situation,” he added.

O’Neal then explained why cheating is not worth it, “The happiest days of my life were come home and hearing six different people say, ‘Daddy! Daddy!’ Happiest days of my life. Forget the money. Forget the cars. Even forget the championships especially when they were little and two and three and didn’t really care that I missed 10, 15 free throws. They waited up for me after games, ‘Daddy, can we go to Universal?’ Those are the best days of my life.”

“When I lost those, I’m not going to use the d-word because I know a lot of people are suffering with that, but I was all the way down. And sometimes I’m still all the way down especially when I was in my house in Orlando, which is 70,000 square feet, in there by myself. Nobody,” he elaborated.

He went on, “Like I built the house for the kids, gym, game room, pool house, this and that, guest house for the mom and all that. When I lost that by being stupid it killed me. So to answer your question. No, it’s not worth it. I wish these two fellas the best. I wish they could come through it and I hope they do not lose their families over what was done.”

O’Neal reiterated, “So again, I’m not going to celebrate and say, ‘Hey, call these people out,’ because I did it. And Shaquille O’Neal is never one to be a hypocrite in real life situations. I’ll always be a hypocrite in basketball because that’s what I do. But in real life situations I can’t call these guys out. I know all these guys personally. They’re already taking a lot of flack. ‘Are you doing this and you’re doing that.’ I’m not going to be that guy. I wish them luck and hope they can come out of this ordeal and I hope they don’t lose their families.”
