The situation involving the Los Angeles Dodgers, a radical LGBTQ group, and the Catholic church has taken almost as many twists and turns as a roller coaster ride. It turns out however, that the whole situation has been thrown for another loop – one that wraps all the way around The White House.

The entire issue centers around The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group of gay men who wear the traditional outfit of a nun, including the habit, wimple, and rosaries. The organization claims on its website that its goal is to “use drag and religious imagery to satirize issues of sex, gender, and morality.”

The Dodgers recently re-invited the group to their LA Pride Night on June 16th against the Giants, after initially removing the Sisters from the guest list. They did so under duress from gay rights activists and local politicians. However, that only swung the pendulum of protest in the other direction.

Once the franchise caved on the issue, politicians like Marco Rubio and Catholic leaders like Bishop Robert Barron spoke up for the denomination. They even suggested that those of the Christian faith should not only boycott the team’s Pride celebration but the Dodgers organization altogether. Their problem wasn’t with the event itself.

It was the inclusion of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence – who use farcical behavior and outlandish makeup to mock followers of the faith.

And now, the political implications may even run deeper.

Former Biden Administration nuclear official Sam Brinton, who stepped down in disgrace after being charged with felony theft, is a member of the group. He pled no-contest after allegedly stealing a woman’s suitcases from a Minneapolis-area airport luggage cart.

Brinton allegedly took expensive luggage and clothing from random women and then wore the outfits as part of his day-to-day duties. Most recently, on May 17, Brinton’s home was searched and he was arrested once again by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority; the expected charge was grand larceny.

Needless to say, the bizarre turn of events cost him his career in Washington. But his mere presence within the Administration has sent red flags up for those on the religious right. This has highlighted concerns by conservatives that the President and Democratic lawmakers might step and try to intervene.

It was Fox News that originally discovered Brinton’s backstory through his previous tax filings. He belonged to the group from 2016 to 2018, and his drag name was Sister Ray Dee O’Active.

There has still been no official word yet if Joe Biden will attempt to get into the middle of this story. With the debt ceiling crisis looming, it’s not a strategic move on their part at this time. But in this age of social babysitting, mixed with hyperpolitical action, it’s always a possibility.

As of press time, the Dodgers are sticking with their decision to include The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in the LA Pride event. However, the situation in LA could change from day to day.
