NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre was a guest on Donald Trump Jr’s podcast, “Triggered” on Monday night, and he offered plenty of thoughts regarding the current social and political climate, as well as the media.

Favre, who himself has been embroiled in a major news story for his involvement in a Mississippi State Welfare scandal, talked with the former President Trump’s eldest son about modern-day journalism. The former Super Bowl MVP drew comparisons between the way he’s been portrayed and those of similarly criticized figures like DJT.
The NFL’s legendary Ironman, who started 321 games straight, implored viewers and his fans to ignore the media (for the most part) because they have a propensity towards what he deemed ‘fake news.’ He stated that much of the public’s perception is based on what kinds of stories are reported, regardless of the presence of facts.
“If you’re watching the news, depending on who you’re watching, which 99.9% of the news is left (leaning),” Brett Favre said. “So there’s a huge agenda. They control the narrative. The best way to squash that is don’t watch that, don’t listen.”

“My impression is there’s an enormous amount of fear of saying or doing anything that will disrupt the other side,” Favre said, adding that players must buy “into something that you don’t necessarily believe in because you’re fearful you’re going to get tons of backlash.”
Favre also chatted with the younger Don about his round of golf with President Donald J. Trump in 2020. The Gunslinger and the former Commander-in-Chief have been friends for some time.

“Playing golf with your dad, I had a blast,” Brett Favre said about the time he spent with 45. “In spite of what people might think, there was no agenda. We had a good time. It was all about the golf game. He got an ice cream sandwich at the turn.”
“What guy does that? What president does that? Granted it was hot, it was like 95 and humid. I thought it was such an honor to be invited to play golf.”

Considered one of the game’s greatest quarterbacks and the undisputed toughest player, Brett Favre played 20 NFL seasons for the Falcons, Packers, Jets, and Vikings. He is the only three-time back-to-back-to-back League MVP and led Green Bay to a victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI. He was elected to the pro football Hall of Fame in 2016.
He became the first player in NFL history to throw 500 touchdown passes.
