Texas A&M freshman Micah Tease was arrested on Friday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and a separate charge of less than two ounces of marijuana, according to the Brazos County Jail website.

Tease has since been released on bail after posting a $10,000 bond for the first charge and a $3,000 bond for the second charge, bringing the total to $13,000.  Following the news of his arrest, Texas A&M suspended the four-star recruit indefinitely.

He was a four-star recruit out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tease originally decided to sign with Arkansas, before switching over to the Aggies back in The 6’0″, 180-pound wide receiver wasn’t expected to start this season, but was counted on to be a contributor. And he played well in practice, even notching 72 yards receiving in the Texas A&M’s ‘Maroon and White’ spring game.

Now, depending on the outcome of his case, he might never play a single game for the university. His collegiate career may have legitimately ended, just one day before he was supposed to officially step onto the turf for the first time.

For Aggies’ fans, this seems like a case of lightning striking twice. Last year, two highly touted freshmen recruits, Denver Harris and Chris Marshall, faced legal troubles, as well as several other members of last year’s class.

Many fans of the team even went on social media and criticized coach Jimbo Fisher, saying he was responsible for the culture of criminality.

Without Tease, Texas A&M still opened up its 2023 season with a convincing 52-10 victory over the New Mexico Lobos at Kyle Field in College Station on Saturday. The #23 Aggies will next travel to Miami to face the Hurricanes (1-0) this week.
