In a recent interview, well-traveled NBA veteran Kevin Durant says he feels he’s finally found a home in Phoenix

Kevin Durant has had a lot of twists and turns in the course of his NBA career, but he feels like he’s finally found an oasis in the desert. The 35-year-old star has been at the highest of highs and lowest of lows during his stops in Seattle, Oklahoma City, Golden State, and Brooklyn, but seems much more content now in Phoenix as he enters his first full season with the Suns.

Despite winning multiple NBA titles, being a perennial All-Star, and generally accepted as one of the greatest players of his generation, Durant has always had a but of a stigma around him that he’s perpetually unhappy. Even during his days of riding high with Steph Curry and the Warriors, there were whispers that he would eventually seek greener pastures. For whatever reason? He always held the reputation of a ‘ramblin’ man’.

But he says that’s not the case now in Phoenix, and the environment there has made all the difference.

“That stuff helps, it’s good to have stability,” Kevin Durant told Yahoo Sports in a recent story. “To be able to know what you’re going into. Last year [in Brooklyn], I didn’t know until right before training camp what was going to happen. But it was good to build with the team throughout the whole summer.”

Kevin Durant also says that as one of the more experienced guys on the Suns roster, he tries to add a little bit of leadership when he can.

“I just want to be aware on making decisions, who should be on the team, I give my suggestions and input and hopefully they take it in and value my opinion,” he said. “But if they don’t, I still come to work and do my job.”

Phoenix finished 45-37 (4th overall in the Western Conference) last season but only had Kevin Durant for a total of eight games last year following a late-season trade. It will be interesting to see how much the aging star can shine in Phoenix over the course of an 82 game schedule.
