Channeling the heritage of the ‘dogface’ soldiers, Army isn’t playing around this season

As an Army veteran I’ve never been more amped to watch the Black Knights roll over Navy and finally re-establish nature’s hierarchy of power on December 9th. While uniforms don’t make the players any better, I think an exception can be made for this year’s Army-Navy game uniforms that the Black Knights will be donning in honor of the Rock of the Marne.

With a reputation for kicking butt and taking name, this year’s uniforms are diving into Army heritage by taking inspiration from the 3rd Infantry Division.

Known as the “Rock of the Marne,” the unit boasts a storied history of valor and strategic excellence dating back to its formation in November 1917 at Camp Greene, North Carolina. Earning its nickname from its unwavering stand during the Second Battle of the Marne in World War I, the division played a pivotal role in the Allied victory.

In World War II, it further distinguished itself in key European campaigns. Throughout the Cold War and beyond, the division was crucial in deterring Soviet aggression and has been actively involved in modern conflicts, including the Iraq War and the Global War on Terror.

Embodying American military strength, the division’s legacy is marked by its tactical prowess, adaptability to modern warfare, and the dedication of its soldiers, underscoring its significant contribution to global peace and security.

Sleek, to the point and with a hint of desert camo fatigue tan, this is a no-nonsense uniform.

The Army is coming back, they want their victory, and they’re going to do their own “Thunder Run” on the field in a game which will (hopefully, I’m not unaware of their track record) go down as an epic Army victory.
