Social media star and boxer Ben Williams has raised more than $12k (€10k) for children’s charities right before the holidays by putting on a fun-filled influencer boxing event featuring bouts with many other popular Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube stars thanks to help from Kingpyn Boxing promotion.

A Cause for Good

The roster of online celebrities included names such as Marc O’Neill, Whelo, Craig Cooney, ThisIsDublin, KingByrne, Jayrong, Karl Sheridan, Sean Tyndall, James Uzel, and Shane O’Neill.

“It sold out to over 800 people in the venue and thousands more watched it online,” Williams told Dublin Live. “We then donated to charities Shannon’s Hopeline, LauraLynn, and Children’s Hospital Ireland.”

“We had ICB fly over for it, they are an influencer boxing sanction and they supplied the heavyweight fight with a belt to fight for. Marc O’Neill was one of the boxers and he done really well raising money, he raised over €10,000 to LauraLynn,” he added.

An Improvement Over His Last Headline

It was only a month ago that Williams was in the news for something less noble; the Irishman got into an altercation with fellow TikTok star Ed Matthews which quickly turned into a backstage brawl at a Misfits Boxing show in London’s York Hall.

According to the Daily Mail, the altercation began with Williams arguing with another individual near a bar, leading to physical shoving. Matthews, wearing a grey hoodie, quickly joined in, throwing a punch at Williams, which escalated into a scuffle on the floor with Williams gaining the upper hand. Security intervened to break up the fight and prevent further escalation among their friends.

Despite the brawl, Williams later posted a TikTok video, sporting a cut below his eye, claiming he ‘still came out on top’.

Both Matthews and Williams are active in the YouTuber boxing scene, with Matthews having three fights (two wins, one loss) including a recent victory over Swarmz, and Williams winning his sole fight against Black Paddy in the KingPyn Tournament.

This recent display of kindness however reminds us all that it’s always great to see people with big platforms- celebrities, athletes, and other public figures- to do good for those who could desperately need the help.
