Frat members at The University of Washington pooled together their money to bet on the Huskies as a longshot NCAA title winner

The Washington Huskies, ranked second in the BCS rankings, enter the NCAA College Football Playoff as somewhat of a sentimental favorite, having not won a national title since 1991. They will be battling some powerhouses, starting with the third-ranked Texas Longhorns. However, there’s a small group of fans who will have their wallets invested as much as their hearts.

The undefeated Huskies (13-0) will try to harken back to the Don James Era, starting with attempting to hook the Horns on New Year’s Day. With big-time sports comes big-time wagering, and one fraternity at U-Dub has invested a little to make a lot should the Huskies win the whole darn thing.

A post on X from br_betting posted a ticket from a student at the school, stating that the members of their fraternity all pooled their resources to slap down a bet on their favorite team.

Each member kicked in $25. The payoff, at least reported by the poster, would be a little over $40K net profit (after taxes, of course).

“Cinderella story,” the Washington frat member wrote, along with a photo of the wagering ticket.

“My fraternity at the University of Washington (FJI) pooled in $25 from every member to win the national championship. WHEN the Washington Huskies win the natty, the payout after taxes will be roughly $40,000,” he continued.

“Needless to say, there will be one hell of a party. Penix for Heisman and Go Dawgs!”

As of this writing, the Washington Huskies are four-point underdogs to the Longhorns, according to the popular betting site Draft Kings.
