Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb went un-targeted for a large portion of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins, a decision that he called “weird”

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was confused following his Dallas Cowboys’ disappointing 22-20 loss to Miami on Sunday. Despite being one of the team’s most valuable weapons, he wasn’t targeted for two full quarters in the Christmas Eve contest – which left him somewhat puzzled, post-game.

Cowboys Offense Was Off-Key Without CeeDee

If you look at his numbers, CeeDee Lamb had another outstanding outing in Week 16. He had 118 yards receiving on the day, including a 49-yard catch for the Cowboys’ first touchdown.

However, following a hot start on a chilly day, quarterback Dak Prescott didn’t even look in his direction in the second and third quarters. It was a strange strategy that had Lamb perplexed, especially since he has been Prescott’s favorite target all season.

“They wasn’t doing anything,” Lamb said at his locker afterward. “I don’t know. I just felt like, if I am going to be involved, just keep me involved. And in the game, do what they gotta do. But yeah, I agree… It was weird, that second and third quarter. Very weird.”

CeeDee Lamb Wants To Bring The W’s To Big D

“Always want to come up with a win,” Cowboys’ third-year star CeeDee Lamb said. “Obviously, tough games, tough situations. Learn a lot in these type of games and I know that we’re gonna bounce back. This narrative about us not winning away is strange but true. But we know what we gotta do. We gotta be great. Continue to be who we are and change that narrative coming down the stretch.”

Lamb has certainly backed up his words with his performance. Since being selected 17th overall by Dallas in the 2020 NFL Draft, he’s been a Pro Bowler in each of his first two seasons, and he’s likely about to rack up a third selection this year. Through 15 games, he’s caught 109 passes for 1,424 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Cowboys (10-5) will host the NFC North Division Champion Detroit Lions (11-4) on Sunday Night Football in a match-up that will have playoff positioning implications. Dallas then closes out their season against division rival Washington on January 7th.
