Aaron Rodgers has been battling to return from a ruptured Achilles Tendon, but will he be starting in just two weeks?

When Aaron Rodgers went down just four snaps into the season with a ruptured Achilles Tendon, it was thought his season was lost. While most players take anywhere from six to nine months to recover from such a blow, the Jets quarterback vowed to try and make it back by the end of the year. However, he’s now denying reports that he will be starting for New York in a couple of weeks.

On Tuesday, the former four-time NFL MVP stopped by to see his pals at The Pat McAfee Show to talk candidly about the Jets season. During the gab session, Aaron Rodgers addressed a recent article from TMZ Sports that reported he would be medically cleared by the time the Jets (currently 5-8) host the Washington Commanders on Christmas Eve.

Rodgers refuted the story, saying that the matter hasn’t even been discussed between him and head coach Robert Saleh.

“I’m not sure about some of these reports,” Rodgers told McAfee and crew. “There’s loose lips everywhere. I’m not going to let that sink my ship though.”

Likewise, Salleh also stated that he didn’t “have any knowledge” about the information in the article or where the news outlet got the story from.

However, during his appearance with Pat McAfee, Aaron Rodgers did praise the play of his understudy and former Jets number-one draft pick Zach Wilson.

Much-maligned for most of his time in New York and considered somewhat of a ‘bust’ thus far, Wilson has come back from early adversity with improved play and better game management.

Rodgers commented about how well the youngster has handled the hardship of the 2023 season. He especially pointed to Wilson’s performance in the squad’s 30-6 win over the Texans. Wilson threw for over 300 yards and two TDs in that game.

“[Zach Wilson] made a couple of big-time plays,” Aaron Rodgers said. “He was in a good rhythm. I’m very happy for Zach, he played excellent. It’s good to be sitting here with a win.”

The Jets (5-8) will face the Miami Dolphins this Sunday at 1 pm EST. It is a rematch from week 11 when the Dolphins dominated, 34-13.
