In his first start for the USC Trojans, Bronny James struggled to make an impact, going 0-for-7 from the field and failing to score in 25 minutes of play. The son of Lakers star LeBron James did contribute one assist and two rebounds, however.

Bronny James’ First Start Was Not One For The Ages

The first half started out promising for the USC Trojans as they took on Colorado over the weekend. They raced to a 37-24 halftime lead on over 46% shooting from the field.

That’s when the wheels fell off. The Buffs outscored USC by 23 points in the second half alone and cruised to a 68-58 victory in the Pac-12 contest.

The loss dropped USB below .500.

Bronny James wasn’t the only cold shooter for the Trojans as he missed all seven shots including three attempts from long range. The team shot just over 24% from the field in the second half and 14% from three-point range.

The game against Colorado marked Bronny James’ ninth overall and his first start. James is just six months removed from suffering cardiac arrest during a workout. The return itself is pretty impressive.

That said, nerves clearly got the best of him in his first start.

The atmosphere too, made things just a bit more edgy for the son of King James. Sitting courtside to watch the performance was a man known for shining brightly under pressure – Colorado football coach ‘Primetime’ Deion Sanders.

This isn’t to say there won’t be any great performances in Bronny James’ future. We’re not going to judge him on one start.

But LeBron did just proclaim to the world that his son could play for the Los Angeles Lakers “right now” and that he is “definitely better” than some players currently in the league.

Narrator: ‘He’s not.’

“He could play for us right now,” James said following a Lakers loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. “Easy. EASY.”

Sure, anybody could walk on at USC too, and contribute zero points – EASY.

Things don’t look to get any easier for Bronny James and the Trojans as they face the 12th-ranked Arizona Wildcats on Wednesday.

Will LeBron’s kid be back in the starting lineup or will he be back on the bench?
