WWE cited budget cuts, but there were also vague reports about Riddle’s personal behavior.

If CM Punk Can Do It…
At WWE Survivor Series in Chicago in November, pro wrestling icon CM Punk made a surprise return to the company after ten years of being away.
Punk also had personal problems with WWE when he left.
Riddle says Punk coming back probably means that he can come back too.
In a recent interview with pro wrestling journalist Chris Van Vliet, Riddle was asked about a WWE return.
Riddle replied, “Well, I’ll say this and this isn’t a knock to anybody. Good luck to everybody.”
“If CM Punk can come back, there’s definitely a possibility that I can come back,” he added.
Matt Riddle: ‘I Have No Ill Will’
Also a former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star, Matt Riddle was released due to a series of controversial incidents that attracted unnecessary publicity online. Regardless, Riddle was pushed as a major star by WWE.
Acknowledging what WWE management did for him during his time there, Riddle said, “I have no ill will, I really don’t. I’m thankful they gave me the opportunities they gave me.”
“I’m super stoked on it,” he added. “Super happy about it.”
