The pending playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins might be one of the coldest ever, and many are saying it should be re-scheduled

As they prepare to embark on their playoff journey, the Miami Dolphins will be leaving behind the gold coasts of the Sunshine State to take on the Chiefs in what may end up being one of the coldest NFL games of all time. On the other side of the equation, Kansas City (11-6) will start their trek to defend their Super Bowl title on their home turf of Arrowhead Stadium.

A Chilly Day For With The Chiefs

While both teams have been on hot streaks this year – flashing explosive offenses at times – the game will likely be a lot more slow-paced than many might expect.

The National Weather Service (NWS) and AccuWeather listed a low of around -8 degrees on Saturday night. Tom Kines, a senior meteorologist for AccuWeather, said the wind chill could mean temperatures feel like they’re between -20 and -30 degrees.

Those dangerously low temps have some fans and media questioning whether or not the playoff game might need to be postponed. Not only for the player’s safety but for the well-being of stadium employees and those in attendance who will be caught out in the crippling climate.

No Dice When Compared To ‘The Ice’

While this weekend’s freezing football may be the coldest in recent memory, it will still not freeze out the infamous “Ice Bowl” from 1967 between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers. That legendary contest is still held up as the ultimate example of gridiron grit under the harshest of conditions.

Heading into the game (if it’s not moved to another date), the Chiefs will look to slow down an amazing array of offensive talent from the Dolphins. Due to the weather, however, most experts are predicting a low-scoring contest, which would likely favor KC.
