Colorado Buffaloes head football coach Deion Sanders has never been shy about expressing his opinion and has had a lot to say in lately about education, recruiting, and the NFL Draft.

He recently claimed to “know” that NFL teams manipulate draft slots. In other words, Neon Deion is saying the game is rigged.

‘Know That to Be True’

Sanders made his remarks about the NFL draft during an interview on the Front Office Sports Today podcast.

During the conversation, Deion Sanders expressed how he believes that the NFL Draft is manipulated.

“You have guys that are slated to go and slotted to go at this number pick,” the Pro Football Hall of Famer said. “Randomly, something comes out that they flunked their drug tests, or they have this type of injury, or they were seen with this and wildly, their draft grade drops later in the round, or even the next round.”

“How does that happen?” he wondered. “How does that mysteriously come out right before the draft?”

Coach Prime continued, “That’s even more harsh [than players refusing to sign with teams], because now you’re affecting someone’s livelihood, and you’re putting a tremendous rumor on somebody that may not even be true. So that’s done every year.”

He added, “The reason I know is that I worked the draft for about 10 to 12 years straight. I know that to be true.”

Pull An Eli

Manipulating the draft would be in Sanders’ area of expertise. According to BroBible, “Just last month, during an appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Deion Sanders said that if one (or all) of the teams that he does not want to draft them is picking in a top-four spot and plans to pick either Travis Hunter Jr. or his son Shedeur, he’s going to ‘pull an Eli.”

“Anywhere from one through four,” Sanders said when asked where he sees the two players being drafted. “One of them’s going to be [number] one. One of them’s going to be one.”

“And the latter one will not go behind [number] four.

“Now, all of this is subjective because I know where I want, kinda want them to go. … So, certain cities, uh uh, it ain’t going to happen,” he added.

“It’s going to be an Eli,” Sanders finished.
