Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was left answering questions about his father’s actions ahead of their Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers in February.

Immediately ahead of the big game, Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested in Texas on suspicion of driving under the influence. It wasn’t the first incident in this regard for the former MLB pitcher. It also means that he’s in a ton of hot water.

About that? Mahomes Sr. has officially been charged by authorities in Texas for a felony DWI dating back to his arrest in Tyler back in February.

“He’s doing good. I don’t really want to get into it too much, but he’s doing good for whatever the situation is,” the younger Mahomes said back in February.

This incident represented the sixth time that Mahomes Sr. has been charged with driving while intoxicated, per US Magazine.

With it comes the possibility of facing up to 10 years in prison under Texas law. This is no laughing matter. That’s pretty obvious given the potential sentencing guidelines.

Mahomes Sr., 52, played in MLB from 1992-2003. He was an original sixth-round pick of the Minnesota Twins in the 1988 MLB Draft out of Lindale High School in Texas.

Mahomes posted a 42-39 record with a 5.46 ERA in stints with the Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates.
