Darcy Adanna Esemonu, an Arizona woman who previously filed a public lawsuit against Trevor Bauer, was charged with two felony counts of fraud by the State of Arizona.

These charges – one for Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices, and another for Theft by Extortion – involve both Bauer and another man. If convicted, the woman faces a potential maximum jail sentence of 16.25 years.

Esemonu was indicted last month. She is alleged to have “knowingly (obtained) a benefit” from the two individuals “by means of fraudulent pretenses, representation, promises, or material omissions,” according to the indictment provided to Bounding Into Sports.

According to the court docket, Esemonu will be arraigned later this month.

The indictment can be read below:

Trevor Bauer Accuser Indicted

Bauer issued a video statement regarding the news of accuser Darcy Esemonu being indicted.

“One of the women who accused me of sexual assault just got indicted for committing felony fraud against me,” he says. “Imagine that.”

It’s important to note that this accuser differs from the original San Diego woman, Lindsey Hill. Hill claimed that she met Bauer in April of 2021 and that he had sexually assaulted her on two occasions.

Bauer, in that case, acknowledged that he did have a sexual relationship with her, but that it was mutually consensual. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office elected not to file criminal charges. They cited a lack of evidence to support Hill’s claims.

“In the last three years, two women have taken legal action against me. Lindsey Hill started all of this,” Bauer says in the video.

He describes Hill as “the girl who set me up and lied to the world in an attempt to take my money.”

“Well, today, the only other one, Darcy Adanna Esemonu, has been criminally indicted for committing felony fraud against me and another man, so now she’s facing up to 16 years in prison,” he adds. “Her claims are even more absurd than Lindsey’s were.”

Likewise, however, Bauer admits to a consensual sexual relationship with Esmonu, but paints her as an extreme aggressor.

Darcy Esemonu Demands Millions, Claims She Was Forced To Have Abortion

USA Today reported last year on Darcy Esemonu’s claims that the former MLB Cy Young pitcher “raped her, got her pregnant, and also held a jagged steak knife to her throat.”

Trevor Bauer immediately claimed his latest accuser was trying to ‘extort’ him.

“She then demanded $3.6 million dollars and claimed I forced her to have an abortion leaving her ’emotionally devastated and irretrievably damaged’ by it,” he says in the new video.

“But here’s the thing – she never had an abortion, because she was never even pregnant, and that’s corroborated by her own medical records,” adds Bauer. “When I refused to pay her the 3.6 million dollars she was asking for, she made up a bogus sexual assault claim and filed a civil suit against me.”

As Bauer speaks, he posts screenshots of text messages sent to him by Esemonu. The former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher states that the other man involved in the indictment was also the victim of “bogus sexual assault claims.”

Wants Back In To MLB

In an interview earlier this year, Bauer discussed his past and hopefully – in his mind – future in Major League Baseball.

Bauer, who was given the harshest suspension in league history following the accusations of sexual assault by Hill and Esemonu, professed his innocence, claimed he has matured in his lifestyle decisions, and expressed hope that he could one day return to an MLB mound.

“I’ve never sexually assaulted anyone,” Bauer said at the time. “Never will, never have. That’s not who I am as a person.”

Bauer also admitted in the interview to making numerous poor lifestyle choices over the years. But, he insists he’s grown out of that stage.

“I know I’ve made mistakes. That’s kinda what I’m trying to focus on,” he said. “How do I get better from the experiences that I’ve had. I’ve made mistakes in my personal life. I’m really detail-oriented when it comes to baseball and my training, but I didn’t apply the same level of scrutiny to my personal life.”

“I made mistakes … I was reckless. It hurt a lot of people along the way,” Bauer said. “I made things very difficult for Major League Baseball, for the Dodgers, my teammates, my friends, family, people close to me.”

Trevor Bauer has adamantly denied the allegations against him throughout the entire process and he and Hill, the first accuser, settled dual lawsuits recently without money being exchanged.

He has expressed interest in returning to the Major Leagues.
