Caitlin Clark sent a text to Philadelphia Eagles draft pick Cooper DeJean after he claimed he could beat her one-on-one on the basketball court.
This, according to DeJean himself.
The second-round draft pick joined Kay Adams on her show Up and Adams to explain what happened after he made his bold declaration. He suggested the original comments kind of blew up a bit when he was originally just trying to answer a question.
“I mean, I was really just answering the question, but obviously, you know, Caitlin’s a special player,” DeJean said. “She’s done so much for women’s basketball as well and the University of Iowa in general.”
“So I’ve had nothing but respect for her. She took a shot back at me after she texted me and she said didn’t think that I could beat her. I’ll let her say that but yeah, I mean, I think it’d be fun though if we got to play each other.”
Cooper DeJean says that following the viral clip of him saying he could beat Caitlin Clark 1 on 1, she reached out to humble him a bit 😂

Could Cooper DeJean Take Caitlin Clark On The Court?
Could we eventually get a remake of the Battle of the Sexes? Basketball’s version of the Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs tennis match?
Bounding Into Sports reported on Cooper DeJean’s claim about being able to beat Caitlin Clark straight up.
“I wouldn’t say it’s really weird but a lot of teams have asked me if I could beat Caitlin Clark one-on-one, just being from Iowa,” he said. “I said I think I can.”
He added that Clark would “probably score a few buckets on me” but that he’d ultimately prevail.

Who Would Win?
Adams told DeJean flat-out that she didn’t think he could beat Clark on the hardwood. But she did want to see it happen.
“Caitlin wrote back to you and said, ‘No chance.’ So when are we playing this out,” Adams said. “When is this happening?”
With Caitlin Clark currently in her rookie season in the WNBA and Cooper DeJean focused on Eagles training camp, it seems unlikely that the two will battle it out any time soon.
“I don’t know. She’s pretty busy right now,” DeJean said. “So I don’t know. We’ll get to that.”
During the appearance with Adams, the host showed some clips of DeJean playing basketball and it seems the young man does have game.

Not seeing much of a jumper in those highlights, but if he takes her to the rim at his size?
Still, Clark could just drain threes over the top.
It would make for a very interesting matchup.
