Las Vegas Aces

While Caitlin Clark may be stealing headlines and dominating WNBA TV ratings early on in her Indiana Fever career, the Las Vegas Aces are the ones who have won back-to-back championships. Players like WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray, and Kelsey Plum are well-known in women’s basketball, and they should be, given that they’re All-Stars.

Young, Wilson, and Plum are three of the WNBA’s highest-paid players, but six of their teammates rake in a salary of $100,000 or less this season. The City of Las Vegas plans to change that by issuing a $100,000 sponsorship for all 12 players on the Aces roster.

Could you imagine if you received a bonus that was more than your annual income? We’d be excited too.

This is incredible news for players like Kate Martin and Dyaisha Fair. They’re both making $67,249 this season. Three others, Emma Cannon, Sydney Colson, and Kierstan Bell, have salaries of $76,535 or less.

The city of Las Vegas’s $1.2 million investment in the Aces is a significant chunk of change. However, considering all the ticket sales they’ve received and the income they will continue earning from the WNBA team’s success, $1.2M is just a drop in the bucket.
