Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese continues to find herself in the news. Primarily, the young WNBA player has found herself in a beef with fellow rookie Caitlin Clark early in their first season as professionals.
That was taken to a whole new level during the weekend after Clark was the victim of a hard foul from Sky player Chennedy Carter. It’s led to widespread debate around the sports world. That’s especially true after Reese was seen congratulating her teammate on the cheap shot.
The Sky’s first game since said incident took place Tuesday night against the New York Liberty. Like clockwork, Reese was involved in more drama. This time, she was ejected after getting into it with an official in Chicago’s 88-75 home loss to the Liberty.
Reese finished the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds. However, it’s the ejection that was the talk of social media after the fact.

Lonzo Ball Offers To Pay Any Angel Reese Fine
Watching the game, Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball took took to social media. He called Reese’s ejection “weak” and offered to pay any fine that came with the rookie getting the hook.
We have seen several big-name individuals go to bat for Reese after she continued a college beef with Clark. Most recently, the former LSU star pretty much indicated that Clark is not the reason for the increased popularity in her sport.
“I know I’ll go down in history. I’ll look back in 20 years and be like: ‘Yeah, the reason why we’re watching women’s basketball isn’t just because of one person. It’s because of me, too,’” Angel Reese said recently. “And I want you to realize that.”
It seems as if NBA stars such as Ball have taken note of Reese’s stance.
As for the on-court drama, Reese has no issue with being labeled a “bad guy.”
“It all started from the National Championship game. I’ve been dealing this with two years now,” she said of the negative reaction of fans. “And understanding that, yeah, negative things have probably been said about me but honestly, I’ll take that.”
“People are pulling up to games, we have celebrities coming to games, sold out arenas. Just because of one single game. And just looking at that – I’ll take that role. I’ll take the bad guy role and I’ll continue to take that on. And be that for my teammates.”
The debate certainly continues to rage.
One thing is perfectly clear. The drama we’re seeing early in the WNBA season — with Clark and Reese at the forefront — is adding to the intrigue. Whether that’s a good thing for the brand remains to be seen.
What we do know is that Reese likely didn’t deserve to get ejected for her actions on Tuesday. Perhaps, the WNBA is taking note of the on-court antics we’ve seen this season.
