The last we checked, legendary broadcaster Al Michaels was alive and ticking. Michaels currently does play-by-play alongside another respected broadcaster in that of Kirk Herbstreit on Thursday Night Football.
The guy who brought us great calls, including The Miracle On Ice during the 1980 Winter Olympics, is not showing any signs of slowing down.
So, what is this about NBC deciding to employ an A.I. version of Al Michaels during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris later this month?
We wish this were some type of troll job or sick joke. But it really isn’t. And it’s pretty damn disturbing. Check out A.I. Al Michaels, and tell us what you think.
What the heck is happening? Here’s a thought. How about actually using the real Al Michaels? This is about as creepy as that hologram phase society went through years ago, when we employed stars who had passed in concerts and such. Remember that?
Again, what is happening?

We’ve Cross The Rubicon With A.I. Al Michaels

Artificial intelligence has already started to rate NFL Draft prospects by looks. It has become a major part of society today, and threat to world piece is absolutely real here. Find the joke there.
“Your Daily Olympic Recap on Peacock will feature narration from a “high-quality A.I. re-creation” of Michaels’ voice, trained using his past appearances on NBC in order to match his ‘signature expertise and elocution,'” the streaming service announced.
For his part, Michaels indicated that he was initially “skeptical” of the idea. Ya think?
Michaels has since changed his tune after hearing the A.I. version of himself. You just can’t make this up.
“Frankly, it was astonishing. It was amazing,” Al Michaels said. “And it was a little bit frightening.”
Get your mute buttons ready. Employ something to save us from artificial intelligence. Keep your head on a swivel. This is just getting all sorts of creepy.
