Team USA Olympian Veronica Fraley is set to make her debut in Paris this week. The Vanderbilt product is set to compete in the discus event.

However, there was one major issue here. The school did not send her enough money to pay rent while in France. She was not too happy about it and took her grievances to social media. Primarily, her issue was with the current state of Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) deals as it relates to other amateur athletes. Specifically, football players.

Fraley did follow up by saying her issue was not with Vanderbilt in particular.

“Thanks for the supporting messages but I want to clarify my irritation isn’t with the school itself, mainly the rules that bar me from making the amount I’m WORTH as a collegiate athlete such as NIL which favors popularity over performance. that’s all I’m sayin. Wish me luck tm,” Veronica Fraley on X.

Though, there is some good news on this front.

The hip-hop artist and Team USA super fan took to social media in response to Fraley’s tweets and offered to help her pay rent.

Reddit founder and husband of tennis legend Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian, also did his thing by offering to help her.

NIL deals have become a major story around the world of college football, with some of the biggest stars in the nation getting seven-figure contracts under the newish landscape.

All the while, Olympians representing the United States are struggling to pay rent in France. It certainly does not seem to be right.

At the very least, two individuals stepped up to help Fraley. It’s patriotism and altruism defined.
