In what could only be described as a dramatic twist to an otherwise exhilarating rugby match, a spectacle unfolded at Mbombela Stadium that left fans and viewers with more than just the game to talk about.

Following South Africa’s Springboks clinching a victory against Argentina in a rugby match, celebrations on the field and in the stands took an unexpected turn. And you might be surprised to learn that alcohol was involved!

Video shared across social media shows that, amidst the post-match euphoria, one particular fan’s attempt to steal the spotlight ended abruptly and quite literally with a thud.

One man, in a bold dash across the field, evaded security personnel temporarily, but eventually his running style – arms flapping, leading with his hips – betrayed him.

The man’s run for glory was cut short by a security guard whose tackle would not only end the invader’s escapade but also render him unconscious.

Rugby Fan Gets Trucked By Security

As the video shows, the rugby fan gets absolutely leveled to the point where the security guard immediately calls for medical personnel to render an assist.

According to The Sun, officials even had to debunk stories that he had been killed after getting driven onto the pitch.

Despite the harsh tackle, reports confirmed that the fan was in good health after being treated. And – you’re not going to believe this – after regaining consciousness, this dude’s first request was for his beer!

Mpumalanga Department of Health spokesperson Christopher Nobela reported that “the individual was intoxicated and even asked for his beer after being discharged.”

I mean, that’s the kind of dedication you’d expect on the rugby pitch, no?

Get That Man A Beer

Perhaps this man can parlay his performance into an invite to Dancing With the Stars, just as American rugby hero Ilona Maher has done.

Maher took to the dance floor with a cha-cha performance in the premiere episode to Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”

During Oscars Night, she performed a salsa to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” paying homage to Dirty Dancing, where she and her partner Alan Bersten included some challenging lifts.

Personally, I think Maher should lose the professional dance partner and do some sort of routine with this rugby fan where they both have to try and hold a beer throughout the performance without spilling it.

Tell me that wouldn’t be ratings gold.
