Veterans have reportedly asked Prince Harry to step away from the Invictus Games, claiming it has become “too royal” since Meghan Markle began participating.

The Duke of Sussex is the founding patron of the games. The event is an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event featuring hundreds of wounded veterans.

The event over the years has featured support from celebrities like Morgan Freeman, singer James Blunt, and soprano singer Laura Wright.

It has been a crowning achievement for Harry. Perhaps that is, until now.

Vets Asking Prince Harry To Get Out Of Invictus Games?

A new report by GBN suggests veterans, as interviewed by royal biographer Angela Levin, are upset that Prince Harry has changed the focus of the Invictus Games.

Levin claims the event had become “too royal” and suggested they “were more about Harry and wife Meghan Markle than the veterans themselves.”

In a discussion with Levin, GBN host Mark Dolan suggested the status of the games had become “imperiled.”

Dolan added that thousands of participants have bowed out from the Invictus Games since Meghan Markle began taking part.

“About 2,000 ex-military have left the games, as they say it’s lost its original meaning,” he claims. “There are some former veterans who would like Harry to step down.”

Other commentators were equally unimpressed.

Upset With Meghan

Levin furthered the discussion by pointing to a specific incident involving Markle that raised the ire of some of the veterans.

“It’s become much too royal,” she said. “Meghan makes the speeches, she actually led a march where some of the ex-military people were either physically, emotionally or psychologically damaged, or all of it, during the fighting.”

“They were very upset about this, because she knows nothing about how to march. And I think they don’t want that.”

Levin went on to suggest it was less about Prince Harry and more about his wife’s involvement that is causing an issue with the Invictus Games.

She went so far as to suggest Harry “was brilliant with” the veterans and “marvelous at giving them a feeling that life was worth living.”

But, she adds, since Meghan became involved, the Duke’s focus has been on her needs and not theirs.

The next Invictus Games will take place in 2025, in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada.
