Paris. In novels and history, it is seen as one of the most romantic cities in the world. The 2024 Summer Olympics in France has proven to be no different.

Sure, there has been some controversy more than a week into the Summer Games. That’s always to be expected when pretty much every nation in the world gets together.

But there has also been some absolutely stirring moments take place in the European capital.

It was just ahead of the event kicking off that Argentinean handball player Pablo Simonet proposed to his then-girlfriend, field hockey player Maria Campoy, at the Olympic Village in France.

We now have ourselves another proposal, and it’s all sorts of awesome.

Huang Yaqiong, a women’s badminton player from China, won the gold medal in the Summer Olympics on Friday. Typically, winning gold would be the highlight of her year (or life).

But that was not even close to the case.

Yaqiong teamed with Zheng Siwei to win the top medal in the badminton mixed doubles competition. Once she went through the medal ceremony, fellow Chinese badminton player Liu Yuchen popped the question.

Initially, Yaqiong was surprised and shocked with the proposal. She ultimately said yes, leading to one of the most awesome moments thus far in the Summer Olympics.
