American Scottie Scheffler is the top golfer in the world. This was pretty much known ahead of his appearance at the Summer Olympics, with the New Jersey native coming in at No. 1 overall in the official World Golf Rankings.
But what Scheffler did during the Paris Olympics in France magnified this further.
Combining a great drive with tremendous putting, Scheffler won gold. He finished minus-19 in the four-day tournament, including shooting an eye-opening minus-nine on Sunday. It certainly was something to behold.
For the 28-year-old Scheffler, this comes on the heels of winning the Masters earlier in the summer. There was also some major drama with officials in Kentucky earlier in the PGA season.
We know very well how dominant Scheffler has been. That’s why it was somewhat of a surprise to see his emotions come out during the Summer Olympics.

Scottie Scheffler Extremely Emotional During Playing Of National Anthem

Once Scheffler captured his first Olympic gold on Sunday, they started playing the United States National Anthem. Just check out the emotions he displayed. It will give you some chills.
The tears. The raw emotion. Patriotism. It all came out in droves as Scheffler teared up while singing along with the anthem. Just amazing stuff right there, and something all Americans can get behind.
“It was just very emotional being up there on stage there as the flag is being raised and sitting there singing the national anthem,” Scheffler said, via ESPN. “That’s definitely one I’ll remember for a long time.”
Winning a Major is one thing. It’s the biggest accomplishment a golfer can have on the PGA Tour. But winning gold for your country in the Summer Olympics is a completely different feeling.
Scheffler showed that in more ways than one Sunday in Paris.
