Gymnast Simone Biles took a brutal jab at a former Team USA teammate after Biles and the rest of the squad won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The team, led by Biles and Sunisa Lee, along with Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera, dominated the field on Tuesday, easily reclaiming the top spot in women’s gymnastics.

Team USA earned a total score of 171.296 points, nearly five-and-a-half points ahead of Italy, who finished second.

It was dubbed a redemption tour for the ladies after finishing with a silver in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. And they came through in spades!

Redemption Turns To Revenge For Simone Biles

Simone Biles wasted little time going after a former teammate who had criticized the makeup of the 2024 American team earlier in the year.

After becoming the most decorated Olympic gymnast in American history, Biles took a moment to slap down MyKayla Skinner, who served as an alternate for her in the 2020 games.

“Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions,” Biles wrote on Instagram.

It was a very targeted response to Skinner, who criticized the team in the run-up to the Paris games.

Skinner’s criticism came in a since-deleted video in which she excluded Biles from her comments but trashed the other women on the team.

“Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be,” she had said. “The girls just don’t have the work ethic.”

Skinner’s Apology Wasn’t Enough

It should be noted, that Skinner later apologized for the comments but the damage had been done. Most of Team USA blocked her on social media and took a few jabs at her over the incident.

“I want to formally apologize to Team USA and to our gymnastic community for my comments during my recent YouTube episodes of the gymnastics Olympic trials,” she said. “It was not my intention to offend or disrespect any of the athletes or to take away from their hard work.”

Clearly, that wasn’t enough for Biles, who wasted little time poking fun at her former teammate.

Skinner won a silver medal in the vault at the 2020 Games in Tokyo after Biles withdrew from several events due to mental health issues and the “twisties.” (That’s kind of like the “yips” for gymnasts.)

Biles removing herself from the team competition in Tokyo played a large role in the US team only earning a silver medal.
