Prominent French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati was attempting to compete for a medal during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on Saturday.
He’s considered one of the best in his trade in the country, and was favored to medal in the event.
That’s when something got in the way. Literally.

What we do know is that Ammirati needed to 5.70 meters to put him in the next round and continue his Olympic run. Again, something got in the way as he mounted with his pole (very punny).
