Olympic gymnast Suni Lee revealed the three most important qualities she looks for in a man during an appearance on the “HAHA” podcast.

The guy must be an athlete. Emotionally intelligent. And at least five years older than the 22-year-old.

So, if you’re not an immature dolt who at least exhibits some kind of hand-eye coordination, you may have a chance. A chance similar to Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) with Mary Swanson in Dumb and Dumber. But a chance nonetheless.

“I feel like my type is, like, athletes,” Lee said. “I like a very emotionally intelligent man because I feel like a lot of the guys that I’ve talked to or come across, they always just end up being so immature.”

“And I’m like, you’re five, six years older than me, and you act like that. I act older than you.”

Suni Lee isn’t asking much

It’s not really asking much when you think about it. Women tend to prefer the company of emotionally intelligent people, at least above the level of a grade schooler.

The toughest requirement might be the athlete department. Does Suni Lee want a casual athlete or someone on par with her? Because she is an incredible athlete.

Lee rose to prominence by winning the all-around gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021), along with team silver and uneven bars bronze. She became the first Asian American woman to claim Olympic all-around gold.

She continued her success at the 2024 Paris Olympics, earning team gold, all-around bronze, and uneven bars bronze—bringing her total to six Olympic medals.

Suni Lee expressed frustration with immature men, even those older than her, noting that she often feels more mature than they are. But if she’s going to put a number on it, she said she would only date someone up to about five years older.

“I like a funny guy and somebody that’s caring — not just about me, but with the people around me,” she said. “If we go out and you’re only worried about me, I’m going to be mad because I need you to be able to take care of me and all my friends.”

Whoa, whoa, whoa. A package deal?

Suni Lee, sans friends, was strutting her stuff on the runway at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show last month.

Lee wore a PINK crop top, blue boy shorts, and a pink wrap.

The event marked a historic crossover of elite athletes into high-fashion lingerie modeling, blending sports empowerment with diversity.

Lee has modeling experience as a featured lady in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit pages.

Sunisa, diagnosed in 2023 with two rare, incurable kidney diseases that forced her to pause her gymnastics career, has become a prominent advocate for kidney health awareness.

She partners with the American Kidney Fund as an ambassador for their Know Your Kidneys initiative.
