Unsurprisingly, Team USA Basketball earned gold during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Things came to a culmination on Saturday, with USA earning a hard-fought victory over the host France.

The game was close throughout, with France pulling it to within three late. That’s when Stephen Curry put the Americans on his back by hitting four three-pointers to put the game on ice. It was an absolutely stunning performance that will go down in Olympic history.

Everyone was talking about Curry going full clutch as he pretty much carried the United States to another gold. It was a spectacular scene in Paris.

All-time greats such as Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant were on the court at the same time as the United States came out on top. Curry nailing a game-clinching three while double teamed. Both LBJ and KD wide open as the shot heard around the world went in.

According to Richard Deitsch of The Athletic, Saturday’s win drew an average of 19.5 million viewers on NBC. It peaked at 22.7 million viewers as Curry was doing his thing late in the fourth quarter.

This is the most-watched medal game since the 1996 Atlanta Olympics when the United States defeated Yugoslavia.

To put this into perspective, the Boston Celtics’ win over the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals averaged 11.3 million viewers. The 2023 iteration averaged 11.6 million. We have not seen numbers like this in the NBA Finals since Michael Jordan was dominating for the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s.
