A Sky News reporter has clearly had enough of the coverage being given to Raygun, the Australian breakdancer who went viral for her atrocious performance in the Paris Olympics.
Raygun, whose real name is Rachael Gunn, captured widespread attention for her performance in the breakdancing competition. The sport debuted in the 2024 Summer Games.
Gunn became a social media sensation after her unconventional moves during the round-robin stage of the women’s event. Actually, let’s be honest. Her moves weren’t unconventional. They looked like something a restless toddler might deliver.
Raygun was swept out of the competition without earning a single point. Zero points awarded.

Reporter Slams Raygun
Raygun’s performance was so bad that fans suspected she was a plant of some kind. And she sparked countless memes and TikTok parodies.
Sky News host Rita Panahi though, is not amused.
Panahi was covering an Australian Awards show in which Raygun joked to fans, “Please feel free to pull out any of my signature moves in celebration.”
After cutting away from the segment, the newscaster interjected by asking, “Are we sick and tired of this yet?”
“We still have no real answers on someone who is so terrible at breakdancing came to compete in the Olympics in breakdancing,” she added. “Until they answer that question, I don’t know if I want to see any more appearances.”

Suggests Performance Was Intentional Marketing Move
The guest being interviewed by Panahi suggested Raygun is poised to make successful marketing deals and expand her media and television appearances due to all the attention she is receiving.
“Maybe that’s been the plan all along,” she asserted.
Despite the peculiar nature of Raygun’s appearance and the obvious benefits she stands to reap from going viral, the Australian breakdancer seems genuinely upset about some of the backlash she has received.
She says the criticism has been intense. Raygun defended her selection and the process behind it, which she claims was transparent and based on her achievements in previous competitions.
“I didn’t realize that would also open the door to so much hate which has frankly been pretty devastating,” she said.
“I went out there and I had fun. I did take it very seriously. I worked my butt off working for the Olympics. I gave my all, truly.”
Panahi has suggested just about anybody on the planet could have performed better in the breakdancing competition than Raygun did.
“I genuinely believe, and I am not saying this to be bold or hyperbolic, I could do better,” she said. “I have 100 percent confidence, give me half a day, and I could put together a better routine.”
