Boxing: Tyson vs Paul Press Conference

Jake Paul teased Mike Tyson for being quiet and “boring” during their pre-fight press conference on Wednesday.

That’s right, the “Problem Child” referred to the man who gave us media magic by declaring he’d eat an opponent’s children and proclaiming his defense was “impregnable” is now putting Jake to sleep.

“There’s a lot of […] talk online saying you’re going to kill me, and just nothing in person,” Paul remarked after being asked about Tyson being quiet. “It’s … I don’t know. It’s uh, pretty boring. Pretty […] boring.”

The battle between Paul and “Iron” Mike is scheduled for November 15th, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It promises to be anything but boring.

Mike Tyson Is Ready For Jake Paul

If I were Jake Paul, I’d be more worried that Mike Tyson is seemingly focused and not really interested in hyping a fight some people aren’t sure will be a serious bout.

It seems pretty obvious he’s taking it seriously.

“I’m just ready to fight,” the 58-year-old former World Champion said. “I’ve said everything I’ve had to say. There’s nothing else to say. I’m just looking forward to fighting. … The [amount of] people speaks for itself.”

In a rare moment when “The Baddest Man on the Planet” did actually get fired up, he predicted victory.

“I’m not gonna lose,” he told a reporter. “Did you hear what I said?”

Tyson Boring?

Like I said, Tyson isn’t exactly known to be boring when it comes to interacting with the media. He is the owner of some of the greatest quotes in boxing history.

Just ask Lennox Lewis, who Tyson addressed in a post-fight interview thusly in 2000:

I’m the best ever. I’m the most brutal and vicious, and most ruthless champion there’s ever been. There’s no one who can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No, I’m Alexander, he’s no Alexander. I’m the best ever. There’s never been anybody as ruthless. I’m Sonny Liston, I’m Jack Dempsey. There’s no one like me. I’m from their cloth. There’s no one that can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I’m just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children.

Dude said this after using Evander Holyfield’s ear as a chew toy. Also, it turns out his defense was actually ‘pregnable’. He lost to Lewis by knockout.

In the trailer for the Netflix documentary about their highly-anticipated boxing match, Mike Tyson is seen watching footage of Jake Paul and delivers another ice-cold line.

“There’s a fundamental difference between me and Jake,” Tyson says into the camera. “He’s a manufactured killer. Television and papers made him a killer. He’s manufactured.”

“I’m a natural-born killer,” he deadpanned.

This fight on Friday will be many things. Boring won’t be one of them.
