Jake Paul finally responded to Mike Tyson’s “medical emergency” over the weekend, suggesting the story was clickbait and insisting “nothing changed” regarding their much-anticipated fight in July.

Tyson was involved in an in-flight incident requiring treatment by paramedics after a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday.

Representatives from his team indicate the boxer “became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up” but is now “doing great.”

Paul responded on the X social media platform skeptical of the severity of the incident and said essentially, ‘Fight’s still on.’

“You love to make s— up before knowing the facts for clicks/likes. Nothing changed,” he wrote.

Jake Paul Taunts Mike Tyson After Medical Incident

There’s really not much to his statement. It appears that Jake Paul is insinuating the media are over-hyping Mike Tyson’s medical issues.

He’s probably right. The odds of an ulcer flare-up stopping their fight from taking place on July 20th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas are slim to none.

And maybe Team Tyson is hyping it up a bit as a means to convey just how hard it is for a nearly 58-year-old man to remain in boxing shape.

Still, Paul got absolutely hammered on social media. Not just for the comments, but for the fight in general.

“Correct,” one person responded to Jake Paul saying nothing with Tyson has changed. “Mike is still a senior citizen with a lot of health issues.”

“You fighting [President Biden] next?” another joked, referencing the 81-year-old leader.

Another chimed in, saying, “Jake, if you have anything about you here (sic) … You’d cancel the fight and face somebody else in the main event. Plenty of people would step in even on short notice.”

From Hype To Worry

There seems to be some sort of shift in the mood surrounding the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

Where once there was great anticipation, there are now videos showing concern for the way Tyson is training.

Particularly the way he runs.

Where once there was a clamoring for nostalgia, there are now reporters openly challenging the fight as a gimmick.

As much as this would be a nice notch in Jake Paul’s belt, this isn’t ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson he is facing.

It’s Thor. As in, he’s really Thor.

“My body is s— right now,” he confessed at a press tour stop at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York earlier this month. “I’m really sore.”

This fight is going to be fun to watch. But will it be a legitimate contest?
