The Army Black Knights have just unveiled their special uniforms for their annual game against the Navy Midshipmen, which is set to take place on December 14. In a word, the uniforms are nothing short of epic!

Black Knights Debut New Uniforms

The Black Knights’ new threads honor the soldiers of the legendary 101st Airborne Division. This group of hard calibers fought in the Battle of the Bulge in the town of Bastogne, Belgium, during World War II.

This division, which is also known as the Screaming Eagles, went above and beyond as they fought the Nazis in freezing temperatures. They did it all to protect America and the freedoms that our country holds dear.

While a sports uniform doesn’t measure up to their sacrifices, it’s important to keep these memories and traditions alive.

Check out the uniforms for yourself below.

Army Speaks Out

“The 2024 Army-Navy uniform honors the storied legacy of the 101st Airborne Division,” the Army said in a statement. “Nearly 80 years ago, the Screaming Eagles lived their motto, Rendezvous with Destiny, when they raced into the town of Bastogne in response to the Nazi offensive that would become known as the Battle of the Bulge.”

“The 101st Airborne Division, encircled by Nazi forces, endured three weeks of relentless close combat in freezing weather,” the Army continued. “Their endurance and outright refusal to surrender sapped Nazi morale and resources and played a significant role in the failure of the Nazi’s last great offensive in the Second World War.”

This makes the Screaming Eagles the perfect division to honor heading into the Army’s annual game against the Navy.

“On December 14, we are honored to represent the past, present, and future Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne Division,” the Army concluded. “As we take the field against our rivals, we carry the paratroopers’ legacy and traditions with us as we seek to emulate their Rendezvous with Destiny by refusing to yield the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy.”

Features On The Uniform

Features on the uniform include a “Bastogne” logo under the right shoulder pad. This is the Belgian town that the 101st Airborne Division was tasked with holding. The helmets also feature a “Spade” card suit used by the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the regiment featured in the amazing HBO series Band of Brothers.

Social Media Responds

Social media users were quick to praise the Black Knights’ uniforms.

“Dang now I have to do my twice annual rewatch Band of Brothers,” one Reddit user commented. Another added, “The snow powder look on the shoulders and helmets is an amazing touch. Those look fantastic.”

“Army never misses with their army navy uniforms. Awesome stuff,” a third user wrote. A fourth person gushed, “My favorite unis so far this season. Army never fails to deliver uni wise for the Navy game.”

This year’s game will be the 125th annual Army-Navy game. The Navy leads their all-time series with a 62-55-1 record. The Navy’s biggest win came way back in 1973, when they came out victorious by a score of 51-0.

However, it should be noted that the Army has won their last two games against the Navy, so momentum is on the No. 24-ranked Black Knights’ side!
