Under head coach Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes have achieved an unprecedented team milestone. An academic milestone.

Say what you want about Coach Prime, but he has not turned Colorado into a “Football Factory” like other schools we will decline to name. Nope, the young men under Prime’s tutelage not only go to class, they get good grades to boot.

The team reportedly achieved a cumulative GPA surpassing 3.0 for the first time in the program’s history. It appears Coach Prime is turning around the program both on and off the field.

The news was announced by director of player personnel James Chaney on X.

“For the first time in CU Football history, our team GPA was over a 3.0!” he excitedly revealed.

The university announced previously that “The football team had the second highest term GPA on record in the spring and now has the highest cumulative GPA in program history, hitting the 3.0 mark for the first time in school history.”

Well done, gentlemen!

Love For Deion Sanders, Changing The Culture

News of the Colorado Buffaloes hitting a historic mark with their cumulative GPA was well-received across social media.

Deion Sanders has emphasized the importance of balancing academics with athletics, stating that his wins are measured beyond just football. His leadership has focused on athletic success and instilling a culture of academic excellence, which has led to a historic GPA achievement.

“That’s bigger than football—it’s a culture shift,” one fan wrote. “Coach Prime and the team showing that excellence ain’t just on the field, but in the classroom too.”

“First time ever? That’s history in the making. This is what real leadership looks like. Big respect to the Buffs!”

“You’re a leader @DeionSanders,” another responded. “Keep up the good work, sir.”

Coach Responds

Deion Sanders recently commented on his son Shedeur’s educational experience at Colorado, and it’s pretty revealing as to how colleges are able to tout rising GPAs.

“Ain’t none of them on campus because things have changed,” Sanders said in a discussion on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast.

“Everybody is taking classes online, and they graduate. Shedeur has never taken a class on campus in his whole college career. Shilo [Sanders] may have at South Carolina, but I don’t remember Travis [Hunter] ever being on campus as well,” he added.

“So they missed a whole part of the collegiate experience. But to each his own.”

This academic success comes alongside a remarkable turnaround in the team’s performance on the field, going from a dismal one-win season in 2022 before Deion Sanders arrived to a 9-4 record in 2024.
