After starting the season with nine straight wins, the Miami Hurricanes have now lost two out of their last three contests. The latest was a 42-38 defeat to the Syracuse Orangemen in the JMA Wireless Dome.
Miami blew a 21-0 lead in the second quarter to fall to their Atlantic Coast Conference rival.
Also falling was their mascot. Down to one knee. In an attempt to get a local reporter’s phone number. He took his eye off the ball.
Ashley Wenskoski, a sports anchor and reporter for CNY Central, said Sebastian, who is defined as “an anthropomorphic white ibis,” was hitting on her during a crucial stretch of the game.
“Sebastian the Ibis just kneeled down and asked for my number mid-drive Feels like he has bigger things to worry about with his team on the ropes in the 4th quarter at the Dome…but who am I to say,” Wenskokski wrote on X.

Miami Mascot Trying To Get A Reporter’s Digits
Good lord, poor Sebastian watched his team lose on the field while he was losing over on the sideline. At least he tried. Some people out there might be attracted to glorified ducks pretending to be an ibis.
Ya never know. As the great Michael Scott once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. – Wayne Gretzky”
Also, can you blame the duck?

Fans on social media had a field day at Sebastian’s expense.
“Another L for Miami on the day,” one fan wrote.
Another person joked, “Oh, so asking for a woman’s number while wearing a giant furry outfit is a crime now?!”
Feathery. Feathery outfit.

Hurricanes Season Is Falling Apart
While the Hurricanes’ mascot was unsuccessful in his romantic endeavor, Miami faced an even more significant defeat on the field.
Losing the game to Syracuse eliminated them from the ACC Championship contention, potentially affecting their College Football Playoff aspirations.
Much like Sebastian’s dating game, everything fell apart against the Orangemen right when Miami’s confidence was at its peak.
Syracuse pulled within 21-14 by halftime, then scored 28 second-half points, including a crucial fumble recovery for a touchdown by Devin Grant, which gave them a 35-28 lead late in the third quarter.
Miami attempted a comeback, hitting a field goal and bringing the score to 42-38 before the Orange ran out the clock.
