Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders – son of Colorado coach and NFL legend Deion Sanders – wasn’t exactly thrilled with Cam Newton coming onto the field to interrupt his pregame routine as the Buffaloes prepared for a matchup against Central Florida.
And he seemingly let the one-time NFL Most Valuable Player know about it.
Video on social media shows Newton walking up to Sanders. The two appear to be cordial and share a handshake. But Sanders starts walking away while Newton appears reluctant to let go of his hand.
Eventually, Deion Sanders’ kid breaks free and walks away, leaving a bewildered-looking Newton standing there for a moment before he walks away as well.
Shedeur continued his routine in the endzone as a befuddled Newton walks by him.
Shedeur Sanders Wasn’t Having It
While Cam Newton was confused by what happened between him and Shedeur Sanders’, so was the public. The former Carolina Panthers quarterback would provide a glimpse of the awkward exchange, telling a friend down on the field what was said.
“He said I’m on some weird […],” he said in a longer video on X.
Some media outlets have interpreted the comments as a sign that Sanders wasn’t happy with anybody – even a former Super Bowl starting quarterback – interrupting his routine.
Others though, have pointed out that Newton has talked about Sanders on his podcast, noting there is a “fine line between confidence and controversy,” two traits in which the Sanders family exhibits an overabundance.

Sanders Dissing People Post-Game As Well
Some of that attitude Newton is discussing involving Shedeur Sanders came to a head in a game last month against Colorado State.
After the game, Sanders refused a handshake from opposing Colorado State QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, drawing criticism from many football fans.
Apparently, it’s not wise to mess with Shedeur pre- or post-game.
Sanders also courted criticism following a shellacking by Nebraska in Week 2. Sanders spoke to the media and immediately threw his teammates under the bus – specifically, his offensive line – after the loss.
Colorado has recovered from that loss nicely, improving to 4-1 (2-0 in conference) after beating Central Florida, 48-21. Sanders threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns in the game.
