Sherrone Moore was fired from his position as Michigan Wolverines head coach on Wednesday, after the university uncovered credible evidence of an inappropriate relationship with a staffer.
Hours later, Moore was arrested in Saline, Michigan, on an assault investigation at a home—reportedly non-random—and remains in Washtenaw County Jail pending charges.
It seems the staffer, whose name has surfaced on social media, though it’s unproven that she is the link, was also in the house where the assault took place, according to TMZ.
According to dispatch audio obtained by the outlet, a woman called 911 from her Ann Arbor home, claiming Moore had stalked her for months before breaking in and attacking her.
In the chilling dispatch audio, gleaned from Broadcastify, the operator urgently coordinates a response after the woman reported the assault, with mentions of Moore having a knife. The operator says the supsect is suicidal after “losing his job today.”
He not only lost his job, but he’s also behind bars and has probably destroyed his marriage.
Sherrone Moore story keeps getting worse
Moore was fired abruptly after the University of Michigan discovered he was engaged in an “inappropriate relationship” with a staffer. He has a wife and three daughters.
The university issued a statement indicating they had found “credible evidence” of the affair.
“This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior,” the statement reads. Online speculation ramped up after a staffer locked her Instagram account on social media.
That staffer, according to some outlets, is the executive assistant to the head coach. TMZ’s report says that the 911 call came from the apartment of that same employee.
“It is unclear if the employee was the woman allegedly attacked,” TMZ writes, “or if the incident just so happened to take place at her home.”
That would be an incredible coincidence.

No charges yet
As of Thursday afternoon, Moore remains in custody amid the ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed yet, and an arraignment is expected on Friday.
“The matter involving Mr. Moore remains under active investigation by law enforcement, and as a result, we do not expect charging decisions or an arraignment today. Mr. Moore remains in custody at the Washtenaw County Jail,” a local prosecutor told the Detroit Free Press.
“As this remains an active investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time, but our office will provide an update once a decision on charges is made,” the statement concluded.
It is a dark, dark day for Michigan football. A program that has embarrassed itself with scandal after scandal for several years now.
Biff Poggi has been named interim coach as Michigan prepares to play Texas in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on December 31st. He is 2-0 as head coach, having to fill in for Moore in the past due to previous suspensions.
