Donald Trump joined U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau for a charity golf event and a video of their round shows this: the former President has some serious skills.
The pair pledged to donate $10,000 for each stroke under par to the Wounded Warrior Project. After scoring a -22, the tally comes to a $220,000 haul for the vital foundation.
It was all part of DeChambeau’s ‘Break 50’ challenge in which he and a guest, engaging in a two-player scramble hitting from the red tees, attempt to shoot under 50 for the round.
The PGA golfer emphasized that the event was not political in nature.
“I want to thank President Trump for coming on this episode of Break 50! It was an honor to play a round with the former president and raise a ton of money for the Wounded Warrior Project,” DeChambeau captioned the video on YouTube.
“This was all meant to be about golf, good fun, and supporting a great cause.”

Trump’s Round With DeChambeau Was Pretty Impressive
As it turns out, the video of DeChambeau and Trump on the links shows the 78-year-old has a fairly impressive game.
“Trump can play,” writes Bunkered, though they note it’s tough to assess handicap and such from such a small sample size.
“Trump was striping it off the tee, however, and despite playing best ball with a multiple major champ, made a solo birdie on nine and a solo eagle on 12,” they report.
Check out the duo in action below:
DeChambeau and Trump didn’t quite ‘break 50’ but they came close. In fact, they hit 50 right on the head!
And Trump, though he exhibited a rather unique if not questionable putting style, managed to nail a 12-foot putt to end their round, causing the two-time major champion to drop to the ground in excitement.

DeChambeau: Man Of The People
Bryson DeChambeau said he reached out to the campaigns of both presidential candidates at the time – this round was reportedly filmed in early July before President Biden bowed out of his campaign – and Trump responded.
“It is an incredible honor to be able to enjoy a round of golf with any sitting or former president, and all have an open invitation to join me for a round of Break 50 anytime,” DeChambeau said.
The 9th-ranked golfer in the world is quickly becoming a man of the people despite originally being cast as a PGA villain.
In the middle of competing for the PGA Championship in May, DeChambeau came to the rescue of a young fan who had a souvenir golf ball swiped away by an adult.
In another incredible video, DeChambeau took a moment to sign a fan’s hat during his U.S. Open round.
DeChambeau defeated Rory McIlroy by one stroke in the 2024 U.S. Open, following the latter having a breakdown by bogeying three of the final four holes, missing par putts of two and three feet in length during that run.
Additionally, Bryson pulled off an incredible up and down from 50 yards in a bunker on the 18th for the victory.
Trump teased that if he missed the winning putt, history would have remembered him differently.
âYou would have been branded, they’re cruel,â he said. âSome guy that is 150 pounds overweight wouldâve said âheâs a choker, he canât play.'”
