Netflix released the first teaser trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 during their first foray into NFL broadcasting on Christmas Day, and fans are getting excited.
The brief video offers a glimpse into what fans can expect when the sequel hits the screens in 2025 – a whopping 29 years after the original came out.
The trailer showcases Adam Sandler back in his iconic Boston Bruins jersey, work boots instead of golf shoes, and swinging away at the golf ball with his signature run-up style.
It’s not just Sandler returning; Julie Bowen reprises her role as Virginia Venit, and Christopher McDonald is back as the ever-amusing Shooter McGavin.
One scene shows McGavin at the gravesite of Happy’s late golf coach, Chubbs Peterson, who had been played by Carl Weathers, who sadly passed away earlier this year in real life.
The two engage in a staredown.
‘Happy Gilmore 2’ And Travis Kelce’s Cameo
The trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 also teases new additions to the cast, including high-profile cameos from NFL star Travis Kelce and musician Bad Bunny, whoever that is.
Kelce slides in as a country club attendant of some sort, what with that Uncle Rico haircut and all, looking more like a character out of Oppenheimer.
Sandler revealed that Kelce would be one of many athletes set to appear in the highly-anticipated movie sequel earlier this year.
“Travis, he mentioned it, so we have a nice something for Travis. He’s gonna come by. He’s a very nice guy, you guys would love him in real life,” Sandler told Jimmy Fallon. “What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell.”
With that, here’s your first look at Happy, Shooter, and Travis in the upcoming film.

Bryson DeChambeau Too?
Happy Gilmore 2 aims to recapture the magic of the original 1996 film, where Sandler played a failed hockey player who discovers an unexpected talent for golf. Or at least, one single aspect of golf.
The film became a cultural phenomenon known for its humor, memorable lines, and Sandler’s over-the-top performance.
The original also starred Bob Barker, Joe Flaherty, and the aforementioned Weathers, each of whom has sadly passed away in ther intervening years. Barker played himself at a charity event in the film. Flaherty was the crazed fan who would yell “Jackaass!” in an attempt to rattle Happy.
Rumor has it that each man will be paid tribute to in some manner, with Sandler also trying to get current Price is Right host Drew Carey into the mix.
Two-time US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau also teased a possible cameo in the film with a post on X.

Fans seem excited about Happy Gilmore 2, while others are nervous that it will ruin the memory of the original. The latter seems highly unlikely with the 29-year gap between projects.
In the nearly three decades since it premiered, Happy Gilmore has enjoyed consistent airplay as a classic film with one-liners and quotes that have endured the test of time.
Everybody remembers Sandler telling Bob Barker: “The price is wrong, b***h.”
Who amongst us hasn’t approached a putt and muttered to ourselves, “Just tap it in. Just tap it in. Give it a little tappy. Tap Tap Taparoo.”
