Streaming service Netflix is set to debut its first-ever, live sporting event next month – a special showdown pitting the stars of the race track versus the stars of the golf course in a truly unique contest. It comes on the heels of two popular series the platform already produces.

On November 14, the event – called ‘The Netflix Cup’ – will pit four Formula One drivers and four PGA Tour players against one another in a golf tournament streamed live from Wynn Golf Club, just off the Vegas strip.

Scheduled to be held on the night before the first-ever Las Vegas Formula-1 Grand Prix, Netflix will blend two of their flagship sporting docuseries: F1’s Drive to Survive show and the PGA’s Full Swing program. Both have been successful ventures for the streaming platform, which led to this new endeavor.

“We love to see how our sports series have brought increased fandom to sports leagues and competitions all over the world,” Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Nonfiction Sports at Netflix said in a press release.

“The Netflix Cup will take that energy to the next level with global stars from two popular hits competing in our first-ever live sports event,” the statement concluded.

Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Thomas will represent the PGA Tour and each will be paired with a Formula 1 driver. Williams’ Alex Albon, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, McLaren’s Lando Norris, and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz are the four F1 drivers participating.

“The Netflix Cup brings drivers and golfers to the course in a first-of-its-kind live event on November 14.” the PGA Tour posted on X about the event.

Netflix’s F1 presentation, “Drive to Survive”, is in production on its sixth season, while the PGA-themed Full Swing is about to wrap up filming on the second season of the series.
