The singer Ingrid Andress has admitted that she was drunk when she botched the national anthem on Monday night while singing it at the MLB Home Run Derby.
One day later, the country music singer Cody Johnson made things right when he knocked the national anthem out of the park while performing it at the MLB All-Star Game in Texas.
Johnson Redeems National Anthem
After what had happened the day before, fans can be forgiven for feeling nervous when Johnson, 37, walked out onto the Globe Life Field in Arlington to sing the national anthem.
As soon as he removed his white cowboy hat and began to sing, however, it became clear that fans had nothing to worry about!

Social media users praised Johnson for his performance, saying that it was “refreshing.”
“Now that’s how you sing the national anthem. well done!” one social media user commented. Another added, “My ears have healed.”
“Not that the bar was set very high, but Cody Johnson absolutely CRUSHED the National Anthem,” a third fan commented. A fourth person wrote that “Cody Johnson redeemed the anthem tonight!”

Conspiracy Theories Abound
While Andress has tried to take responsibility for this, conspiracy theories have swirled online alleging that she may have had ulterior motives.
“Ingrid Andress 1000% did that on purpose so people google her and check out her music to see if it’s as bad as that anthem,” one social media user claimed.
Indeed, Andress had announced earlier in the day that her next album “Colorado 9″ will be dropping next week on July 24.
“Maybe Ingrid Andress purposely sang the National Anthem terribly, so people look her music up to see what she actually sings. And then they get hooked on it,” a second fan claimed.
“Seeing all the attention Ingrid Andress is getting for butchering the US national anthem, I’m beginning to think she sang offkey on purpose,” a third user said in agreement. “Most people (me included) had never heard of her before. Now everyone on this app knows who she is.”
‘Now Everyone Knows Her Name…’
Some fans even went so far as to say it would be “brilliant” if this was Andress’ motive.
“I don’t know what an Ingrid Andress is but her anthem performance was most definitely on purpose,” one person commented. “Now everyone knows her name and she’s getting clicks like crazy. Brilliant.”
Regardless, it’s never fun to see our national anthem be botched in any way. We’re glad that Johnson made things right last night by performing the national anthem just as it should be sung!
