Ex-Phillies and Mets All-Star Lenny Dykstra is reportedly behind $50,000 on unpaid rent for his high-end Los Angeles apartment

Former three-time MLB All-Star Lenny Dykstra is reportedly behind $50,000 on unpaid rent for his high-end Los Angeles apartment and now faces eviction. The 60-year-old is also alleged to have used COVID rent relief to avoid making his payments.

Dykstra, who won a World Series in 1986 as a member of the New York Mets, found his greatest success and fame as the heart and soul of the 1993 NL Pennant-winning teams in Philadelphia. He and the Phillies would go on to lose the Series to the Toronto Blue Jays and the big bat of Joe Carter.

Since retirement, however, Dykstra has run into numerous legal and financial woes due to bad business dealings. So, it’s no surprise that he’s made himself his own money pit in LA.

According to Dykstra’s landlord, the ex-MLBer has not paid rent for over a year on a one-bedroom apartment that he rents for $4,700 per month. The building is located in the high-profile Westwood area of the city.

As mentioned previously, Lenny Dykstra’s legal adventures have been multiple, and mostly of his own making.

In 2012, Dykstra admitted to committing bankruptcy fraud. The former player lied about whether he had taken and sold items from the $18 million mansion he purchased in Sherwood Estates -one that had previously belonged to NHL icon Wayne Gretzky. In 2009, Dykstra also declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy despite having accrued over $50 million in career earnings.

Lenny Dykstra has been known for having several feuds with teammates and holding grudges against former friends – most notably former Phillies reliever Mitch ‘Wild Thing’ Williams.
