Listen, I’m not sure why Snoop Dogg was doing color commentary during the Milwaukee Brewers-Cincinnati Reds game on Saturday but it clearly needs to happen more often.
The D-O-Double G delivered a call for the ages on a ground ball to Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz.
Snoop played it as if De La Cruz had no shot of backhanding a slow grounder and firing it to first base on time. What transpired on the call is pure poetry.
“Oh he’s safe, he can’t throw that. He ain’t got no arm like that. No he don’t!” the rapper enthusiastically predicted.
Ah, but he clearly did have the arm as most MLB fans know.
Undaunted, Snoop added, “Who is that with that rocket? Oh lord, he got a rocket in his pocket. Oh, he made that.”

Snoop Dogg Shocked By Elly De La Cruz Throw
Whatever you might think of Snoop Dogg’s music career, his color commentary is already legendary with that Elly De La Cruz call.
Just a thing of beauty.
The “Gin and Juice” rapper also offered some tips for Christian Yelich on the basepaths. Tips that included “you can’t let the pitcher out-run you.”
“Literally impossible to not get down the line with Snoop Dogg openly rooting for you in the booth,” Yelich wrote on X after the game.

Honored Before The Game
Obviously, Snoop Dogg’s call on Elly De La Cruz’s play and Christian Yelich’s footwork on the bases deserve to be honored and recognized for their greatness.
Speaking of, Dogg himself was actually honored before the game as the guest of honor at American Family Field. He even tossed out the first pitch.

The pitch looked pretty good from that angle.
One might even say it looked like he had a “rocket in his pocket.”
Whatever it is, MLB needs to get that man in a booth more often. Or, at least the Brewers need to get him calling games. The rhymes, the phrases, and the open cheering of his team made for some entertaining moments.
