Fat Joe and the New York Yankees were widely ridiculed for the rapper’s performance before the start of Game 3 of the World Series. Now, Dodgers players are mocking him after winning the MLB championship.
Fat Joe was seen ambling about the diamond and struggling to ad-lib, something he likely had to do to make some of the lyrics more palatable to the crowd. It was a flipping train wreck.
Numerous fans even joked that he might be the cause of their beloved Yankees losing the series. He definitely took the air out of the stadium for Game 3, and the team fell to the Dodgers, 4-2.
Now, LA is pouring some salt in the wounds of both their opponent and their rapper of choice.
Fat Joe Didn’t Have A Great World Series, Neither Did The Yankees
Los Angeles outfielder Kiké Hernandez had an absolute field day wrecking Fat Joe’s World Seris performance, taking a brutal shot during the Dodgers’ victory celebration at Dodger Stadium.
“We go to New York, and this guy, he used to be fat. He’s not fat anymore. His name is Joe. He came out and sang, and guess what?” Hernandez joked. “We didn’t even need to play, because after that performance, we had already won.”
Ouch, babe.

Hernandez noted that the Dodgers had Ice Cube perform before Game 2 of the World Series, and his set outclassed Fat Joe by a country mile.
“Ice Cube came out in Game 2,” the postseason standout hyped the crowd, asking Mr. Cube to stand up. “And with his performance, we didn’t even need to play the game. We had already won it.”
A New Curse
Hernandez isn’t wrong. Whereas Ice Cube’s World Series pre-game show was fantastic and had Dodger fans amped up, Fat Joe’s performance was horrific and had Yankee fans – and the baseball world in general – scratching their heads.
Fiery relief pitcher Joe Kelly, who wasn’t on the active roster but was a part of the Dodgers organization this season, took similar jabs at Fat Joe.
“When we were down 5-0, and they put Fat Joe up on the board, and I was like, ‘Oh, it’s an easy dub now,'” Kelly said during an Audacy Sports podcast.

He even gave it a name. And if the Yankees now suffer a World Series drought for years, I really hope this sticks.
“You know Fat Joe is the curse,” Kelly said. “They started kicking the ball around and playing Yankee defense.”
“(Fat Joe) was on the jumbotron, I’m pretty sure, right before the fifth. I looked over at [Brent] Honeywell and said, ‘The Fat Joe Curse. Watch.'” he continued. “And we started chipping away, chipping away, chipping away. And bad play, bad play, bad play. And I end up getting my second (World Series) with the Dodgers.”
Will the ‘Fat Joe Curse’ rise to the level of the ‘Curse of the Bambino’ or the ‘Curse of the Billy Goat’?
If there’s a God, for sure.
