What do the stadiums for the NFL’s Washington Commanders, MLB’s Oakland Athletics and NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders have in common?

Well, not a whole heck of a lot. Two are located on the west coast. The other is “existing” to an extent on the east coast.

But when looking at this new data, it seems as if visitors to the venues are not too thrilled with them.

According to BrooksGate, these are the three worst sports venues in the United States. The data comes from average review rankings on Yelp, Google, Trip Advisor and Facebook. It’s absolutely wild stuff.

There is a whole heck of a lot to unpack here. So much. We could write a novel and still leave some stuff out.

Let’s start with the obvious.

Washington Commanders Stadium Is Disgusting

It’s shocking that the rundown Oakland Coliseum doesn’t rank last (more on that later). But the Commanders’ stadium is an absolute disaster class.

Back in 2021, sewage pipes legitimately bursted on to fans during a game. It’s an actual thing that happened. For their part, the Commanders are attempting to get a new stadium. Whether that comes to fruition remains to be seen. But newish owner Josh Harris is attempting to change the culture. That should include sewage pipes not bursting on to fans. Agree?

Oakland Athletics Stadium Soon To Be A Thing Of The Past

The good news first. These A’s are set to temporarily relocate to Sacramento next season before ultimately moving into a state-of-the-art venue in Las Vegas in time for the 2028 MLB season.

The bad news? Oakland Coliseum is a trainwreck of epic proportions. Personal note here. I went to a game a few years back before moving to Vegas. Walking to my seat, I almost stepped on a rusty nail. That is not hyperbole. Came within inches.

Other stories about this disaster class of a stadium includes rat infestation and dugouts being filled with human waste. Yeah, A’s owner John Fisher is a complete. Well, we should leave that there.

Green Bay Packers’ Lambeau Field Ranked Best Stadium In The United States

Lambeau Field, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Press Gazette -USA TODAY NETWORK

Here is a break down of the top-10 according to this survey.

  1. Lambeau Field (Green Bay Packers)
  2. PNC Park (Pittsburgh Pirates)
  3. Camden Yards (Baltimore Orioles)
  4. Busch Stadium (St. Louis Cardinals)
  5. Oracle Park (San Francisco Giants)
  6. Lumen Field (Seattle Seahawks)
  7. Fenway Park (Boston Celtics)
  8. Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs)
  9. Kaseya Center (Miami Heat)
  10. Target Field (Minnesota Twins)

First off, it should not be a surprise that six of the top 10 are MLB stadiums. There is something romantic about baseball venues that Americans just love. Two of the oldest stadiums — Fenway and Wrigley — provide a unique spectator experience.

As for the Packers, it is a complete scene inside Lambeau Field and its surrounding areas in the smallish town of Green Bay. It also represents football history to a T. We’ll be able to witness it first hand when the 2025 NFL Draft is held in Green Bay.

  • PNC Park has helped revitalize downtown Pittsburgh. The iconic bridge overseeing the outfield just makes it that much better.
  • Camden Yards was the first modern MLB stadium built back in 1992. It created a trend of teams erecting venues in the heart of downtown, attempting to lift up the area in the process. It has stood the test of time.

California Headlines The Worst Sports Venues in America

Six of the 10 worst venues according to this report are located in California.

  1. Commanders Field (Washington Commanders)
  2. Oakland Coliseum (Oakland Athletics)
  3. Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas Raiders)
  4. Levi’s Stadium (San Francisco 49ers)
  5. Golden 1 Center (Sacramento Kings)
  6. SoFi Stadium (Los Angeles Rams/Chargers)
  7. Intuit Dome (Los Angeles Clippers)
  8. Chase Center (Golden State Warriors)
  9. Moda Center (Portland Trail Blazers)
  10. NRG Stadium (Houston Texans)

There has to be some bias when it comes to these rankings. Allegiant Stadium opened in 2020 after the Raiders moved from Oakland to Las Vegas. It is an absolutely beautiful venue right off the Strip. It’s proximity to Mandalay Bay also makes the fan experience that much better.

As for Levi’s Stadium, the 49ers made a major mistake when they moved from San Francisco to Santa Clara. The biggest issues for fans is just how hot it is during the early part of the season.

I will also take somewhat of an issue with Chase Center being ranked so low. The newish home of the Golden State Warriors is simply sensational. That’s magnified by the community outside in which restaurants, bars and shops make up Thrive City.

In any event, these rankings are sure to draw a ton of debate.
