Holy cow. Chicago Cubs fans might want to think twice before taking a jab at Pope Leo, a notoriously big-time fan of their counterparts on the south side, the White Sox, next time they’re at the Vatican.

One fan learned the hard way that the Holy Father don’t play.

Vatican Media posted a clip on Wednesday of the Pope driving through a crowd of devoted followers, waving and taking in the flowers and cheers. That’s when one person decided to troll him.

“Go Cubs!” they shouted.

Without missing a beat, a smile on his face, the pontiff replied, “Han perdido! They lost!”

One of the Ten Commandments is “Thou shalt not kill,” and yet the Pope just ended this guy with four words.

Pope torches Cubs fans

Well, Cub fan, that’s what you get for trying to taunt the freaking Pope of all people. That had to hurt.

The Cubs, of course, just suffered a devastating loss in the deciding Game 5 of the National League Division Series (NLDS) to the Milwaukee Brewers last week.

The Brewers eliminated the Cubs from the playoffs with a tight, tense 3-1 victory on Saturday. The Cubbies could only muster four hits in an elimination game while committing two errors.

The season came crashing down as the Brewers moved on to the National League Championship Series (NLCS) against the reigning world champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

And the Pope just rubbed salt in this guy’s wounds. It’ll take a gallon of Holy Water to make him right again.

The White Sox, meanwhile, were loving it, posting “That’s our Pope.”

Rocking a Sox hat at the Vatican

This past summer, Pope Leo was caught in a viral moment wearing a Chicago White Sox hat in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. That’s how down-to-earth this guy is.

The White Sox organization celebrated their famous fan by sharing an image on social media after extending an open invitation for him to throw out the first pitch at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Can you imagine? The Pope throwing out a first pitch? It’s never been seen before.

To be fair, it’d probably take an act of God to turn the White Sox into a respectable organization again. They finished dead last in the American League Central, losing 102 games this past season.

This, after losing 121 games the year before. And another 101 the year before that. Imagine how bad things would be if they didn’t have the Pope on their side.

Born Robert Francis Prevost, the 69-year-old Pope has already displayed his lifelong allegiance to the White Sox.

A video resurfaced after he was anointed pontiff, showing Leo wearing team gear during Game 1 of the 2005 World Series against the Astros. The Sox won that series. In fact, they swept the ‘Stros.

Again, maybe his holiness can bring the White Sox a little badly needed good fortune by showing up at a game and tossing out the first pitch? Next year?

Until then, they’ll have to be content with watching him shred Cubs fans.
