White Sox fans scatter after shooting | iTalk StudiosCredit: C/O

On Friday, a reported shooting took place in the Chicago White Sox stadium during their game against Oakland, leaving two individuals injured with non-life-threatening wounds.

Now, it appears the shooting in question is linked to a fan who allegedly snuck the gun in by using “the folds of her belly fat.”

According to Peggy Kusinski, a radio host for ESPN Chicago, the shooting was an “accidental discharge.” Additionally, she also reports this fan “snuck the gun in past metal detectors hiding it in the folds of her belly fat.”

Two women were injured from the incident and they are expected to make a full recovery, according to a report from ESPN. An attorney for the woman who has been accused of carrying the weapon says now that his client (who was also shot when the gun discharged) denies the report she was the one who brought the gun into the stadium. So, it’s not become an even bigger mess to sort out. However, the ATF is on the job and investigating this strange case.

It’s been a chaotic season for the team on the South Side. The White Sox (53-81 as of this writing and fourth in the AL Central) have gone completely in the tank in 2023.

After entering the season with reasonably high expectations, the team is on the verge of a complete overhaul – in more ways than one. They fired longtime team president Ken Williams and his general manager Rick Hahn, and the franchise is reportedly unhappy with its current stadium deal and may be looking to relocate.

Perhaps the “fan” who brought the gun to the game was simply there to finally put the Sox out of their misery. Because they have one foot in the grave for this season, and one foot out the door, at least it appears, of the Windy City.
