Legendary Martial Artist and Actor Chuck Norris Passes Away at 86
Chuck Norris, the iconic American martial artist, action film star, and cultural legend best known for his roles in Walker, Texas Ranger and a string of 1980s action movies, has died at the age of 86.
Norris passed away suddenly on the morning of March 19th, in Hawaii, following a reported medical emergency, according to multiple sources, including TMZ and CNN.
His family announced the sad news on his verified Instagram account.
“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday [Thursday] morning,” the statement reads. “While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace.”
“He lived life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved.”
Born Carlos Ray Norris on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma, he rose from a background in the U.S. Air Force to become a world-champion martial artist, earning black belts in multiple disciplines, including Karate, Taekwondo, and Tang Soo Do.
He parlayed his fighting prowess into Hollywood stardom with films such as Missing in Action, The Delta Force, Lone Wolf McQuade, and Code of Silence. His longest-running role was as Cordell Walker in the CBS series Walker, Texas Ranger (1993–2001), which established him as an unstoppable force for justice.

Beyond the screen, Norris founded the United Fighting Arts Federation and the Kickstart Kids program, focused on youth development through martial arts. His larger-than-life persona also spawned the endlessly amusing “Chuck Norris Facts” internet meme, which humorously portrayed him as more powerful than just about anything, or even invincible.
