Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is officially a chameleon.
He’s proved he can hang in all kinds of different genres. He went from being a college football player to the Most Electrifying Man in Sports, to an action actor, to a comedy actor, to a self-help guru, and more.
Now, he’s trying out an entirely different skin. His upcoming movie The Smashing Machine has him kitted up as to be unrecognizable.
Just take a look:

The Rock Transforms For The Smashing Machine
The Smashing Machine, produced by the excellent company A24, is a biopic of former wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr.
Kerr has quite the resume of accolades, which includes being the UFC Heavyweight Champion twice, the ADCC (wrestling) Champion four times, and an NCAA Division I champion in wrestling.
In short, the man kicks butt and takes names. So who better to play him than The Rock?
The film, which also stars Emily Blunt and fellow fighters Oleksandr Usyk and Ryan Bader, is set for a 2025 release.
And if you think The Rock is just a pretty boy with blow-up muscles, think again. He recently shared video of himself training in MMA style fighting.

The Rock’s Transformation to Movie Star
The Rock got his start in entertainment before he was even a man. His father, Rocky Johnson, was a WWE tag team champion already in 1983.
After playing football in college for the Miami Hurricanes, The Rock joined WWE in 1996.
That very same year, he became Intercontinental Champion. Just two years later, he defeated Mankind to become the WWF Champion. Over the next decade or so, The Rock became The People’s Champion, and The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment.
All this, and it was still only the start. He successfully crossed over the to the mainstream with appearances on SNL and That ’70s Show. But his real big break on the big screen came with the Fast and the Furious franchise. He played a starring role in Fast Five, which did big numbers at the box office and cleared the way for (so far) five more movies!
So far in his movie career, his films – 66 of them! – have earned in excess of $12 billion.
Look for The Smashing Machine to add to that number!
